National Geographic rate Casares among Spain’s most beautiful villages
The charming village of Casares, located southwest of Malaga on the border with Cadiz, has been named one of Spain’s most beautiful villages by National Geographic. Ranked 94th on the prestigious list of the top 100 most picturesque villages in Spain, Casares stands out as a quintessential Andalusian white village, known for its stunning views and traditional architecture.
Despite its picture postcard-perfect appearance and proximity to popular tourist destinations like Marbella and Estepona, Casares has remained somewhat under the radar.
Many tourists tend to visit nearby towns like Ronda and Setenil de las Bodegas, allowing Casares to maintain its authentic and peaceful charm.
National Geographic highlighted the village’s unique layout, noting, “It is difficult to imagine Casares without its viewpoints, from where you can get a panoramic view tinged with an enchanting whitewash, with the layout of its houses resembling stacked sugar cubes.”
For those who do visit, Casares offers a genuine Andalusian experience, with its narrow streets, scenic landscapes, and untouched beauty that continues to captivate visitors.
