‘Sticky Vicky’, the famous Benidorm entertainer, dies aged 80
'Sticky Vicky', the stage name of Victoria María Aragüés, an entertainer and ballet dancer, who was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and became famous in Benidorm for her unusual stage show, died this morning (Wednesday) at the age of 80.
This was confirmed in a statement posted on social media by her daughter, María Gadea, who wrote: “It is with great sorrow that I write these words, my mother, Sticky Vicky, passed away today at 6am; I can't believe it, she went surrounded by her family; with all our love, I thank God for having been able to always be by her side. I am left with a broken heart.”
Victoria María Aragüés, also known as Vicky Leyton, became very popular in Benidorm during the eighties for her shows that toured various cabaret bars and hotels, in which she removed various objects from her vagina and even opened bottles or lit light bulbs with it.
Such was the level of popularity she achieved that the community of British tourists settled in the Mediterranean holiday resort christened her with the nickname 'Sticky Vicky', which she later used to promote herself. At one point she even had a court battle over the name after another local artist trademarked it.
Currently, her daughter officially holds the title of 'Sticky Vicky', and manages the official Facebook account, and she took the show over from her mother to continue her legacy when she retired from show business in 2015 due to health problems aged 72.
